It doesn't seem so many years ago since the highlight of a meal in a pub was Scampi in a basket. Pubs are now receiving more and more recognition for their food.
The accolades have been made by food guides, trade publications, food promotion bodies, professional bodies and regional and national newspapers.
Readers of Eat Out have also added their favourites to the list of nominations.
To arrive at our final listing, Eat Out's editorial team searched out the national and regional winners from all the major food guides, and trawled the internet looking for those whom other bodies had recognised.
Points were allocated for every award made to a pub for its food during the past year. We then looked for other evidence, checking out each pub's own website, if they had one, scanning their menus, looking for press reviews and taking note of the comments from our own readers.
From all the evidence gathered, we have compiled our top100 and can now give you The Best of the Best UK Pubs.
