von Essen crowned Hotel Chain of the Year

von Essen hotels scooped the Hotel Chain of the Year title at the British Travel Awards ceremony last week.

von Essen's executive director of sales and marketing, Greg Ward commented: "It is a great honour to be recognised by our customers as well as the industry. von Essen hotels continues to invest in staff, major refurbishments and in acquiring new and unique properties such as The Forbury, Reading, the first hotel in our Metropolitan set. 

"We look forward to further developing our Metropolitan set with the opening of Hotel Verta in 2010 and continuing our extensive development programme."

The hotel group beat large hotel chains including Hilton, RIU hotels and resorts, Warner Leisure hotels and Shearings.
