Latest figures from Horizons show that consumers eat out in pubs, fast food outlets or restaurants 1.3 times per week, spending an average of £6.01 on a meal, including drink.

 

Average spend on a meal in a UK restaurant is now £11.09 per head, including drink, while consumers spend £5.22 on a pub meal. Average spend at a fast food restaurant is £4.60.

 

There are in total 1,200 McDonalds restaurants around the country.

 

Shepherd Neame, the brewer and pub group, experienced a 3.7% increase in turnover to reach £52.4 million last year, during the six months to 29 December.

 

The government recommends that everyone should eat two portions of fish a week – however just 21% of people admit to reaching this target.

 

Around 75% of people who buy meat products that are frozen generally assume that they have never been frozen.

 

90% of people would be disappointed if some meat products that appear to be fresh, has undergone processes such as chilling, freezing or cooking.

 

More than 14,000 adult me and women were quizzed about their eating habits, revealing that men were more likely to eat meat and poultry, especially duck, veal, and ham, as well as certain shellfish such as shrimp and oysters.

 

A healthy 47% of pupils in Hertfordshire schools opted for school meals last month, the Watford Observer reported.

 

Hertfordshire Catering, the County Council's school meal provider, served up 39,526 primary school meals a day.
