'Pub Life' photography competition exhibition now open!

19th May 2011, 7:33am

A unique exhibition of photography showing the best of Britain’s pubs is now open. The Pub Life Exhibition, the results of a photo competition run by the British Beer & Pub Association with Idea Generation, is now running in the Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, until 23rd May.

A selection of images depict the best of Britain's beloved locals, and help celebrate a great British institution in a truly unique gallery space in the Old Truman Brewery.

Regulars, amateurs and professionals have entered images from their local pub across six distinct categories. The winners are receiving Olympus cameras and along with shortlisted entries, are of course on display at the Pub Life exhibition.

The six 'Pub Life' categories are:

Pub Life: The image that truly represents the essence of life in the modern pub
The Sun's The Beautiful Game: An image that depicts sportsmanship within the local pub
Strange But True: An image that portrays the bizarre nature of the local pub
The Regulars: This could be a Landlord, or regular figure or feature of your local pub
Pub With A View: An incredible landscape outside or through a fireside window
Lazy Sunday: The quintessential English social activity; spent with great friends and a roast

BBPA Chief Executive Brigid Simmonds said: "The Pub Life Exhibition is a real celebration of life in Britain's locals. Great photographs are all about people, and there is no better place to capture this than in the Great British pub - where bringing people together, enjoying the company of others, good conversation, and of course a wonderful glass of beer, have produced some truly great photos. Many thanks to all those who entered and congratulations to the winners."
