YO! Sushi appoints ex-Barclaycard brand marketer as new senior marketing manager

2nd October 2009, 2:39pm

YO! Sushi, the Japanese conveyor belt restaurant chain, has appointed Mark McCulloch as senior marketing manager to cover its 42 UK based restaurants.

McCulloch joins from his previous role as global senior brand manager at Barclaycard where he was responsible for the rollout of the new Barclaycard visual identity outside the UK and engaging colleagues across the world in the new position of the Barclaycard brand.

Previous to this, McCulloch worked as group head of brand development at lastminute.com and was responsible for re-positioning their six core Euro brands including lastminute.com, Travelocity and Holiday Autos. He was tasked with creating real buzz around the lastminute.com brand, most notably bringing the first beach to Finsbury Square, London.

In his new role, McCulloch will be responsible for raising the profile of YO! Sushi to introduce new customers to its unique dining concept whilst retaining and increasing consumer loyalty.

Commenting on his new role, McCulloch said: "To have the chance to work on such an iconic brand is every marketers dream. There is an overwhelming amount of love for the YO! Sushi brand and we have the opportunity to push boundaries further than all of our competitors. I am excited about using the love for the YO! Sushi brand and our natural irreverence to create real buzz and interest in YO! Sushi that connects us with new and current customers which will help grow the brand and restaurant sales across the UK in the next few years."

Originally from Ayrshire, McCulloch entered the marketing industry with the Get Real! Marketing Company in 1999 having gained a Marketing degree at Paisley University, Scotland.
