Winner revealed for Best of the Best Restaurants

1st July 2008, 3:24pm

Gordon Ramsay’s three Michelin-starred Chelsea venue, The Royal Hospital Road, has been crowned the Best Restaurant in the Eat Out magazine’s latest awards.

This is the latest in a list of awards which have come flooding in since the launch a decade ago with the flagship restaurant gaining a name for "combining contemporary elegance, exquisite cuisine and unparalleled service".

Ramsay commented on the delightful news: "Since we first gained Michelin staus at the Chelsea restaurant, we have always battled to ensure the quality offering remains the best."

The award-winning eatery is one of only a handful of UK venues to have been awarded this top star rating.

Ramsay, whose first job was as a kitchen porter in a curry house in Stratford, is now described as a "sensitive, passionate chef with strength – a man who has helped to bring cooking to a point we could only dream of a few years ago."

The magazine's editorial team  scoured the internet, scanned every restaurant guide, asked Eat Out readers, looked at regional and local newspapers, trade publications and as many other handers-out of awards as they could find to produce the list.

Sources used for this list were the Good Food Guide 2008, AA Restaurant Guide 2008, Square Meal, Time Out London, The Independent, Craft Guild of Chefs Awards, and Hardens Restaurant Guide 2008.
