Wetherspoon drops the price of its coffee to 49p

5th July 2010, 11:51am

Pub operator JD Wetherspoon has cut the price of an early morning cup of coffee to just 49p (Monday July 5).

Its 49p coffee will be available in Wetherspoon pubs across the UK from 7am until 9am, seven days a week.

A cup of tea (including herbal tea) will be available at the same price.

Wetherspoon Chief Executive John Hutson said: "We believe that this is the best value cup of coffee and tea available on the high street.

"A similar sized cup of coffee in either Starbucks or Costa Coffee costs substantially more, with some of their coffees costing more than four times the price of one of ours."

Wetherspoon pubs serve a range of Lavazza (Rainforest Alliance Certified) coffees; latte, cappuccino, espresso, mocha and Americano.
