Located in a prominent corner position in the city's Sharp End area, the detached, two-storey property sits on a 0.48 acre site and comprises a 40-cover bar area, 60-cover lounge area, a 30-space car park and beer garden to the rear.
Red Mango Developments, which is owned by brothers Kash and Suggs Khera, currently operates a further five convenience stores across the region under the Simply Fresh banner including the Simply Fresh@Costcutter in Kenilworth, Warwickshire, and plans to convert the Heathway into a retail unit over the coming months.
The company also plans to lease part of the new unit to Big Johns, which is a well-known fast food operator with sites located across Birmingham.
Gavin Wright, Director at Christie + Co, said: "We received several offers for this prominent public house following a best-and-final bidding process. We have always seen a healthy interest from retailers regarding pubs designated for alternative use but the current increase in pub closures has led to further enquiries and opportunities across the country.
"The locations of these closed pubs make them perfect for convenience store operators, who will have a captive local customer-base on their doorstep from day one. The ease with which change of use can be gained without planning consent also increases the attractiveness of these pubs."
