Vivid Interiors completes fit out for Maze Grill

Hotel and leisure fit out specialist Vivid Interiors has completed a fit out of Gordon Ramsay’s latest venture, the Maze Grill in the Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square.

The project included a full strip-out and mechanical and electrical installation along with plumbing to transform the hotel's previous restaurant into a 80-cover open plan restaurant and bar.

To create an informal, warm, lived-in feel to the venue, Vivid Interiors installed Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) oak flooring in the main dining area which is co-ordinated with oak furniture and fittings and cream suedette floor-length curtains.

Dining chairs and bar stools are upholstered in soft cream leather, and banquette seating in olive green leather was provided in the dining area.

The bar features a five-metre oak bar which is fronted by concrete panels that have inlaid hand-carved rose motifs.

Other highlights include highly polished stainless shelving and polished marron emperador stone floor.

Subtle lighting has been used throughout the venue, from corner lampshades brushed steel lamps in the dining area, to strategically placed mirrors

The main attraction of the establishment is the 14 metre ceiling light along the length of the main dining area which has been polished off in specialist bronze paints to mimic the undersides of copper pots and pans.

Seating up to 12 guests, the dining area enhances the airy ambiance of the restaurant. A four-metre-long 'butcher's bench' table has been created from a single piece of English oak and forms the centrepiece of the dining room. The area is finished with crackle-glazed hand-made tiles that match the décor of the kitchen.

Raised on a mezzanine level, and with glass partitions featuring etched rose motifs, the separate dining space overlooks the kitchen and diners can watch the chefs at work.

Neil Dickson, operations manager for Vivid Interiors, explained: "The challenge of this project was that the hotel and restaurant remained operational throughout the fit out.One of the ways we avoided disrupting the everyday activities of the hotel was to install a walk through tunnel to allow customers to access the main Maze restaurant from the hotel."

The Maze serves up a range of grilled meat and fish dishes.
