Two independent pub companies sign up to SIBA's Direct Delivery Service

Independent pub companies Foundation Inns and Close Imperial have signed up to SIBA's Direct Delivery Service (DDS) to source local beers for a number of their pubs.

Both companies are run by Ian Grundy and Gavin Drew. 

Grundy said: "Locally brewed, quality beer is something customers increasingly expect to find on the bar in our pubs, just as they want to see locally sourced food on the menu.  We've sought to offer local guest ales in those pubs where there's demand, and for us, SIBA DDS has proved a simple and very effective way to source them." 

With SIBA DDS each manager orders his own local beers, which are delivered direct to the pub. 

He added: "Managers who are using DDS are delighted with it: they have a wider list to choose from and it's logistically easier for them to order. We currently use SIBA DDS in five of our pubs and will definitely be introducing it to more, where we believe it can add value to their cask trade." 

SIBA DDS is currently used by around 2,000 pubs. It has increased its deliveries of local beers by 12.6% in volume terms over the last year (to end September 2010).  

Most pubs on the DDS scheme source very locally: 64% take all their DDS deliveries from breweries within a 25 mile radius.
