Turnover up 14% at Carluccio's

6th February 2009, 10:40am

Carluccio's Italian restaurant group has announced that for the 17 weeks to 25 January, turnover grew by 14% compared to the same period in 2008.

The restaurant chain described the Christmas trading as satisfactory and said that there was much more pressure on the consumer because there was a more cautious spending pattern than in previous years.

This positive update means that the group's plan to open a minimum of five stores this year is still on schedule.

Three Carluccio's have been opened since the year end in Leicester, Bristol and Earlsfield, London. The company is encouraged with these latest openings where trading has been ahead of expectation.

The Board believes that the company's all-day trading model, which combines restaurant with retail at a low average spend of £12 per head, will continue to be of benefit during the current credit crunch.
