Travelodge's website most visited in UK

18th March 2009, 9:49am

Travelodge.co.uk has been identified as the most visited website in the 'Travel -Destination and Accommodation' category during 2008.

This recognition by Hitwise data centre clearly indicates that as consumers are looking to cut their travel expenditure, Travelodge is the company they turn to.

Guy Parsons, UK managing director of Travelodge, said: "Travelodge.co.uk has become the UK's most visited travel website due to the excellent prices available there and a design which it makes it the most accessible site in the industry.

"With a five click process from selecting a hotel to paying, the Travelodge website is designed to make the customers visit as easy as possible. With our launch this year of the industry leading price check comparison and our Business Account Card I fully expect travelodge.co.uk to be number one again in 2009."

The Hitwise UK top ten websites for the Travel Destination and Accommodation sector in 2008 were:

1. www.travelodge.co.uk
2. www.laterooms.com
3. www.tripadvisor.co.uk
4. www.ichotelsgroup.com
5. www.activehotels.com
6. www.holidaywatchdog.com
7. www.hotels.co.uk
8. www.superbreak.com
9. www.information-britain.co.uk
