The Lancaster Landmark Hotel Company wins Carbon Trust Standard

24th August 2010, 8:17am

The Lancaster Landmark Hotel Company Ltd has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard after taking action on climate change by measuring, managing and reducing its carbon emissions by 2.4% from November 2006 until October 2009 across its UK operations.

The Carbon Trust Standard recognises organisations for real carbon reduction.  Based on an independent assessment, it certifies that organisations have measured, managed and reduced their carbon emissions across their own operations, and are committed to reducing them year-on-year.

The Lancaster Landmark Hotel Company's three hotels in the UK, the Lancaster London, The Landmark London, and K West Hotel & Spa, were included in the assessment process.

The Lancaster London has undertaken many initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, including: installing LED lights; using occupancy sensors in the public areas; offering carbon offsetting to guests; installing variable speed drives for pumps and motors; using local suppliers; increasing recycling; and using water-based paints.

Brian Hladnik, managing director at the Lancaster Landmark Hotel Company, said: "We are delighted to have been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard and I thank our managers and staff for their commitment to this achievement.  It is great to be an industry leader and to be acknowledged for our efforts in carbon best practices. T

"The Carbon Trust Standard allows us to communicate our environmental credentials with integrity to our guests. Cutting carbon is a priority for us as a business and delivers tangible bottom-line benefits."

Harry Morrison, general manager at the Carbon Trust Standard Company, added: "We congratulate the Lancaster Landmark Hotel Company UK on their achievement of the Carbon Trust Standard. Today, being a good carbon citizen isn't just about looking good on paper.

"Achieving the Carbon Trust Standard shows that the Lancaster London Hotel, the Landmark London Hotel and the K-West Hotel are taking serious and credible steps to measure, manage and reduce its carbon emissions."
