The Ivy reveals plans to hold dinner on London Eye

29th September 2009, 9:19am

The Ivy restaurant has announced plans to hold a dinner in one of the capsules on The Merlin Entertainments London Eye during the London Restaurant Festival next month.

For one night only, The Ivy will play host to ten people on the 14th October. On each of the festival's nights the specially-created capsule dining room will see a different chef cooking dinner, giving ten lucky diners the chance to enjoy some of London's finest cuisine.

Alan Bird, executive chef of The Ivy and Gary Lee, head chef of The Ivy have created a menu highlighting some of The Ivy's most favoured dishes.

Bird said: "The London Eye has become as much an integral part of London's skyline, as the Eiffel Tower in Paris.  What a fantastic opportunity to serve some of The Ivy's signature dishes at a table with the best view in town.  It is a brilliant way to celebrate the diversity of London's restaurant scene and raise money for a good cause at the same time."

Simon Davis, co-founder of the London Restaurant Festival, added: "We already have many of London's top chefs involved in the festival, but adding Alan Bird and Gary Lee of The Ivy to that list makes the line-up all the more tantalising. Never before has the capital seen so many of the industry's big names involved in so many one-off foodie events."

The full list of chefs and restaurants cooking dinner for guests on the London Eye is as follows: Richard Corrigan from Corrigan's of Mayfair on the evening of 8th October.  Hot on his heels will be Gordon Ramsay on the 9th.  The night of the 10th October sees Francesco Mazzei from L'Anima in the kitchen, followed by Vineet Bhatia of Rasoi Vineet Bhatia on the 11th. Zuma Restaurant will have their chef Ross Shonhan on board on the 12th October. Tong Chee Hwee from Hakkasan will be in charge on the 13th, before The Ivy's Alan Bird and Gary Lee arrive for one final night of exquisite dining.
