25th August 2010, 9:44am

The Institute of Hospitality is set to deliver the second of its series of free management briefings in the north west of England next month.

The briefing will take place on Tuesday 21 September from 10am –1pm at the Thistle Hotel Haydock in Merseyside.

It will be the second in a series of management briefings and follows the Manchester briefing which took place in June and was attended by a "cross section" of industry experts.

The event will provide hospitality professionals with the opportunity to receive insider updates on critical industry and government initiatives.

The briefing is designed to deliver "digestible and practical" information on current legislation hot topics, such as employment law, copyright, and licensing issues.

Presentations on the current careers climate, professionalism and excellence, and how all of these topics link into the Institute of Hospitality's role as the industry's professional body will also be discussed.

Among the key speakers will include Martin Couchman OBE, deputy chief executive of the British Hospitality Association, Sam Coulstock MIH, customer relationship director of Springboard UK and Rob Moore FIH, chairman of the Institute of Hospitality Scotland.

Philippe Rossiter, FIH, chief executive of the Institute of Hospitality, who will also speak at the briefing said: "These briefing meetings offer a real opportunity for those in the hospitality industry to keep up to date with what is happening across the industry, and to discuss the impact of any changes on them, and their business.

"We feel very strongly at the Institute of Hospitality that training and knowledge exchange is taken seriously and carried out wherever possible - we hope that events like this will encourage others to see the benefits and increase their engagement on a regular basis."

The briefing is free to attend but organisers are advising that interest will be high so interested participants should book in advance.
