The British Beer & Pub Association appoints new director of brewing

The British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA) has appointed Andy Tighe as its new director of brewing.

Tighe is taking over the position of David Long who is retiring after 29 years with the BBPA. 

Long will continue to work alongside Tighe for the next few months to ensure a smooth transition.

Brigid Simmonds, BBPA chief executive, commented: "Andy will be a key addition to our senior management team and I am delighted to welcome him to this new role. He has a huge knowledge of the workings of the brewing industry, and already has a proven track record.

"He will be a key advocate for the whole sector across the huge range of vital brewing issues that we manage on behalf of members, not least of which is the ongoing debate on tax, where his knowledge and expertise will be crucial."

Brigid Simmonds also paid tribute to Long: "I would also like to express my thanks to David Long. David has been director of Brewing at the BBPA since 1995. He has made a huge contribution to the sector, and will be very much missed by the many who have worked closely with him. We wish him well."

Let us hope that this person is more truthful than Ms.Simmonds, who told lies in from of MPs at a recent BEC meeting. This was all recorded on the day.
