5th March 2008, 10:54am

Tate Catering has announced the opening date for its newest venture – eat & drink at the Bluecoat – a restaurant bar, an espresso offering and events business in the heart of Liverpool.

The new facilities, located within the £12.5m refurbishment of the Bluecoat - Liverpool's oldest building and creative hub, will open to the public on Saturday 15th March and will be open from daily from 8.30am until 10.30pm.

Alastair Upton, CEO of the Bluecoat said: '"eat & drink at the Bluecoat will see us launching our new restaurant bar and espresso bar. I am delighted that Tate Catering are our partners in establishing the Bluecoat as a new eat, drink and entertaining destination for Liverpool."

The three year contract for eat & drink at the Bluecoat was awarded to Tate Catering in May 2006 following an open tender process.

Tate Catering – the innovative catering company who provide culinary expertise to the catering facilities at a range of UK gallery and museum venues and event spaces - is a division of Tate Enterprises, reports directly to Tate's Board of Trustees and is proud that every penny of profit is returned to support the work of Tate.

Robin Bidgood, Chief Executive of Tate Catering comments: "Tate Catering is a unique business with fantastic people and many exciting opportunities ahead. Our management team and staff embrace the challenge of continuing to develop this wonderful business for years to come."
Tate's Executive Chef Sean Davies and Head Sommelier Hamish Anderson have worked with the team at the Bluecoat to ensure that the same standard of food and wine is served at the Bluecoat as at other Tate Catering sites.

Regional food suppliers, including fish from the dayboats of Fleetwood Lancashire and meat from Rhug Estate Wales feature strongly as do boutique beers from Cain's Beer Company and Wapping Beers – both brewed in Liverpool.
