Taste of London restaurant festival kicks off this week

16th June 2009, 10:48am

The four day Taste of London restaurant festival kicks off on Thursday, showcasing cuisine from some of the country's top chefs.

A number of Welsh producers including Beef Direct Ltd, Trealy Farm Charcuterie, and Gower Cottage Brownies, will be taking part in the event under the Welsh Assembly Government's True Taste brand.

Visitors will be able to watch top Welsh chefs in action as they demonstrate their culinary skills using Welsh ingredients at the Wales the True Taste pavilion.

In addition, Andy Harris, editor of Jamie Oliver Magazine, will be teaming up with goat's milk confectioner and cheesemaker Kid Me Not and the Carmarthenshire Cheese Company.

Also appearing on the stand will be Bryn Williams chef patron of Odette's in London's Primrose Hill and 'face' of the Wales the True Taste Food & Drink Awards 2009/10.

Meanwhile Mike Morgan will be conducting a master class in pairing Welsh wine with True Taste Award-winning produce. Visitors will have the opportunity to taste - among others - sparkling wine from Monnow Valley, Pinot Chardonnay from Penarth Vineyard and cider from Gwynt y Ddraig as well as sample award-winning cheeses including Gorwydd Caerphilly, Celtic Promise, and Perl Las.

The event takes place from 18-21 June.
