He was presented with the Academy of Culinary Arts' Annual Award of Excellence after a gruelling five hour test creating an elaborate sculpture of sugar and 32 small chocolates of two different types.
Will, a student at Thames Valley University, also took part in the Bramley Dessert Competition and came second with £250 prize money.
Will's lecturer and WorldSkills training manager, Yolande Stanley, pleased with his preparatory progress, says: "He has had some fantastic successes already this year, going from strength to strength."
In the 2007 WorldSkills competition, the young chef will face off against the world's best young pastry and confectionery chefs. "This is going to be the biggest international competition I've ever taken part in. I'll be representing the UK, so it's about how I perform on the day, with the extra pressure of having national pride riding on my shoulders!"
WorldSkills is held every two years, with 48 member countries competing in 40 different vocational skills. At least 200,000 spectators are expected during the intense, four day contest, in Shizuoka, Japan in November.
