The business has been developed over the past few years by caterers and publicans, Peter Alcroft and Sharon Murdoch, who restored life to this Inn after it had been closed for three years.
Peter and Sharon purchased the Inn in 2006 and gave the place a face lift. The turnover for last year was around £150,000 excluding VAT, trading off very limited hours. The main bar seats 20 and the contemporary dining room has a further 22 covers. A new catering Kitchen was also installed in 2006.
The venture has been sold to Mr Rupert Tyer of Toms Hill Estates Ltd of Tring in Hertfordshire. Rupert has Dartmouth connections and the Inn will be run by the new manager, Nick.
Matt Bettesworth negotiated the sale off an asking price of £385,000 freehold, the actual sale price being undisclosed.
Bettesworth commented: "Peter and Sharon had built up an excellent business and only decided to sell because of their expanding young family. The new owner has a firm base on which to further build the business when he takes over early in the new year 2010."
