Shortlisted caterers revealed in veggie awards

The shortlist for the Vegetarian Society Awards 2009 has been announced with PizzaExpress and tibits among those nominated.

Categories are separated into approved and non-approved for vegetarians. 

Those up for the 'catering for vegetarians award are: 

'Best Vegsoc Approved Catering for Vegetarians'
Ginger Café – Halifax
tibits Vegetarian Restaurant – London
Food for Friends – Brighton
Terre à Terre – Brighton
Dilli Restaurant - Altrincham
David Bann Restaurant - Edinburgh 

'Best Non-Approved Catering for Vegetarians'
Canteen on Clifton Street – Cardiff
Greens - West Didsbury, Manchester
Pizza Express - nationwide
Tampopo - nationwide
The 78 – Glasgow
The Gate Vegetarian Restaurant – London

Others up for awards in different categories include, Kettle Chips, Quorn Streaky Bacon Style Strips, McDonald's Milkshakes, Grolsch Lager and Levi Roots Reggae Reggae Sauce.

Now in its ninth year, the Vegetarian Society Awards are a celebration of the very best in vegetarian food, catering, and lifestyle, and highlight to the nation those companies and services which make life easier for vegetarians in the UK. 

The winners will be announced on Thursday 29 October 2009 during an awards ceremony at The Magic Circle Headquarters.
