Search begins for champion cocktail maker

11th August 2009, 10:33am

Later this month the search for the UK's finest cocktail maker will kick off, which sees entrants compete for a chance to represent the UK in the international 42BELOW Cocktail World Cup 2010 in New Zealand next March.

The competition will tour the UK giving mixologists the opportunity to audition their skills.

During the tour each bartender must craft two original cocktails to impress the judging panel; one signature cocktail using any ingredients they can lay their hands on and one made using 42BELOW and no more than four ingredients, all in under three minutes each.

The winning three bartenders from each city will then have around four months to work together as a team to formulate, practice and perfect the cocktail recipes they will present at the National Final in February 2010.

The wildcard team along with the National Final winners will be taken On Tour during a five-day mixology summit in New Zealand, March 2010. The tour culminates with bartenders receiving their 15 minutes of mixology fame on stage in the Grand Final as they fight to take home the winning title.
