According to the judges, the quality standards among Britain's top independent Italian and pizza restaurants is getting better and better, with a grand total of 11 ventures walking away with gold awards, and two platinums.
And almost half the independent winners came from either Edinburgh or Glasgow with the overall Pizza Chef of the Year award going to Darren Smith from the Battlefield Restaurant in Glasgow.
PAPA director Jim Winship commented on the event: "These awards are well established and aim to recognise the work being done by restaurants, supermarkets and suppliers to keep raising standards.
