Property agent Christie + Co has completed the sale of Just Gladwin’s restaurant for an undisclosed figure.

The 90-cover, modern European restaurant, in Minster Court, in the City of London, was owned by executive chef Peter Gladwin for 13 years.

Jean Paul Maurel, the new owner, currently operates a very unusual and successful restaurant in Paris called Bel Canto, where the waiters and waitresses are opera singers who serenade the guests.

The 6,157 sq ft Minster Court site will be the first of a chain of Bel Canto restaurants in the UK.

Billy Couper, location manager of the Central London office of Christie + Co, explained: "Peter Gladwin has sold his eponymous restaurant …to concentrate on this other restaurant, Just St James/Just Oriental site in St James's, off Jermyn Street, and on the expansion of Party Ingredients – a very successful top end outside catering business."

The current 25-year lease on the property runs from June 1995 with five-yearly rent reviews. The current annual rent is £105,000.

Gladwin's second restaurant, Just the Bridge in St Paul's Walk on Thames-side was also sold through Christie + Co last year for an undisclosed sum.
