SIBA introduces 2011 Business Awards

5th July 2011, 9:58am

The Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) has launched its 2011 Business Awards this week.

The awards, now in its sixth year, are open to all SIBA members – apart from provisional and associate brewers – and aim to reward the many skills needed to run a successful business, with awards for brewers including Best Customer Support, Best Marketing and Best e-business.

Some awards have been redrawn and renamed: Best Innovation becomes Best Business Development, to recognise brewers' efforts to grow or improve their business by acquiring a pub estate, for example, while Best PR/Sponsorship becomes Best Community Support to reflect the grassroots initiatives in which many local brewers invest.

Criteria for all the awards open to brewers as well as the new awards for pubs and suppliers are available on the SIBA website www.siba.co.uk/businessawards. Entries should be submitted by 1st September.

SIBA chief executive Julian Grocock said: "Independence Day seems a fitting day for the launch of a scheme that rewards SIBA brewers, whose fierce independence and business individualism have created our thriving local brewing industry.

"Our brewing members now value the Business Awards as recognition for their entrepreneurial endeavour in the same way that they prize success for their beers in our Beer Competitions."

The winners of the awards will be revealed at a presentation evening in London in the autumn. The event follows immediately on from the SIBA Pub Retailing Conference, now in its third year.
