Roy Ackerman becomes Chairman of the Wine Guild

The Wine Guild of the United Kingdom has announced the appointment of Dr Roy Ackerman CBE as chairman of the Guild.

Roy has represented the Wine Guild at FICB conferences in Slovenia, France, Switzerland and Hungary in the past and will lead the British delegation to Serbia in June 2012.

He was responsible for instigating the international conference of the FICB in Great Britain four years ago.

His other honorary positions include President of the Academy of Food and Wine Service, Chairman of the Governors of the Academy of Culinary Arts, Honorary VP of the Restaurant Association , having served as both Chairman and President, and Honorary President of the Henley Festival of Music and the Arts, formerly past Chairman.

Roy was appointed OBE in 1990 for his contribution to tourism and training and a CBE in 2000 for services to gastronomy. In 2010 he received the coveted Catey's Lifetime Achievment Award for the hospitality industry.
