Rezidor to launch Radisson Blu Hotel at East Midlands Airport

17th August 2010, 10:02am

The Rezidor Hotel Group has announced plans to open a Radisson Blu hotel at East Midlands Airport.

The new build property featuring 216 guest rooms is scheduled to open its doors at the beginning of the year in 2012.

The Radisson Blu Hotel, East Midlands Airport will be located 800 meters away from the main terminal and along the M1. Besides 208 rooms and eight suites, all offering Radisson signature services such as free high speed internet access, the property will comprise one restaurant, one bar/lounge, and one coffee shop.

The hotel design will also incorporate innovative carbon friendly initiatives to significantly reduce the building's CO2 emissions and in the process, pass on significant cost savings to the operator.

Kurt Ritter, president & chief executive officer of Rezidor commented on the venture: "After the Radisson Blu and Park Inn hotels in Manchester, London Stansted, London Heathrow and Edinburgh, this project is our 5th airport hotel in the UK. We continue to be Europe's leading airport hotel operator – with now 32 properties in operation and under development and a total of more than 8,000 rooms."

Bahram Sadr-Hashemi from Azure Property Group, one of Europe's leading hotel investment firms and franchisee of the new hotel, added: "We are excited about working with Rezidor in creating what will be the premier hotel in the area and will offer superior conference facilities.

"The hotel will have a unique identity and offer its customers a new experience. Radisson Blu has proven to be an exceptional strong brand in airport locations and we remain confident that it will be no exception here."

East Midlands Airport is among the 10 largest airports in the UK.
