Work is currently underway to transform the site into a fantastic new public space for events, festivals and informal use, alongside a new Jerwood Art Gallery and community facilities, including the café/restaurant space being marketed.
The proposed café is very prominently positioned within development. Once completed it will provide approximately 200 square metres (2,150 sq. ft.) providing in the region of 60 internal covers. Initial plans provide kitchen space, customer WC's, ample storage, a small kiosk and external seating for 18 covers.
The council is reasonably flexible in terms of the structure of the deal and at this stage will be offering the premises either on shell basis or a fully fitted basis by way of a commercial lease.
Luke Cutler of Humberts Leisure who is overseeing operator selection for the restaurant said: "This is a golden opportunity for an experienced operator to develop a thriving new business. I believe the premises will enjoy good levels of trade due to its location next to a nationally significant Art Gallery. It should be clear to interested parties of the immense benefits of being able to occupy modern premises that form part of a major leisure led regeneration of this popular area of Hastings."
