Restaurant executives gear up for industry summit

27th March 2009, 3:37pm

Some of the restaurant industry's top executives will debate the major issues effecting the sector including the economic downturn at a summit to be held in London in June.

The Allegra UK Restaurant Leader Summit will see the following speakers take to the stage:

Mark Phillips (CEO of Paramount Holdings)
David Page (Chairman, Clapham House Group)
Robin Rowland (CEO, Yo! Sushi)
Luke Johnson (Risk Capital Partners / Channel 4 Chairman)
Tom Peck (Head of Consumer Insight, McDonalds UK)
Ian Neill (Chairman, Wagamama)
Theo Randall (Chef Patron Theo Randall)
Jamie Barber (MD, Steam Roller Restaurants/ hush, Villandry)
Simon Blagden (MD, Jamie's Italian)
Bob Silk (Hospitality relationship Director, Barclays Commercial)
Jeffrey Young (MD, Allegra Strategies)

Allegra Strategies' added that the findings of its 'UK Restaurant Leader Research Report - June 2009', will be presented at the summit.

Steve Gotham, senior analyst from Allegra Strategies explained more: "The economic slowdown is leading to a shake-out in the restaurant sector, in which only the most skilfully managed, better funded and more customer-centric operators will survive.

"However, economic influences are cyclical and the favourable long-term trends towards greater eating out activity will drive renewed market growth. There will be a recessionary legacy related to customer value expectations, but issues around customer experience, convenience, healthier eating, provenance and sustainability will inevitably work their way back up the agendas of both consumers and management."

Throughout the day speakers and panelists will explore and debate the opportunities and challenges facing the sector.

In particular, the event will examine the short and long-term impact of the current economic 'crisis' on the restaurant sector.

The event will also give valuable opportunities to network and interact with leading industry decision makers and high profile entrepreneurs.

Among the organisations already attending are: Coca-Cola Enterprises, Yum!, 3G Food Service, Giraffe, McDonald's, BDO Stoy Hayward, Davis Coffer Lyons, Whitbread, Sodexo, Mitchells & Butlers, Lavazza, Nestlé Professional, SSP Group, Kerry Foodservice, and Nando's.

The Allegra Strategies Restaurant Leader Summit is taking place on 9th June 2009 at Millennium Mayfair Hotel, Grosvenor Square, London, W1. Tickets are currently priced at the discounted rate of £385 plus VAT and this price is valid until the 23rd April 2009.
