Red Tractor Week kicked off with podcasts
9th July 2007, 12:49pm
The benefits of the Red Tractor Scheme are to be highlighted in a week-long initiative supported by various promotions and podcasts that starts today.
Supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury's and Budgens have pledged their support for the Red Tractor campaign, which assures that British food is produced in accordance with the correct standards.
Brakes will be running a week of promotions and activity along with support from celebrity chef James Tanner.
The Red Tractor symbol refers to the appropriate standards of cultivation, storage, animal welfare, transport, processing and packing.
Brakes has commissioned a series of podcasts specifically for Red Tractor Week in which foodservice development chef Neil Smith demonstrates three quick and easy recipes using ingredients that carry the famous logo.
Recipes include Caramelised Chump of Lamb on a Warm Bean & Tarragon Salad, and Feta Olive Stuffed Pork Fillet on a Caper Ratatouille.
In addition, there are discounts and special offers on a range of Red Tractor Assured products, including British pork chops, rump steaks and chicken breast fillets.
Speaking about the scheme, James Tanner says: "Red Tractor Week is a great opportunity to promote British produce that has been farmed to high standards of food safety and animal welfare. Together we can increase awareness and encourage caterers to buy quality foods that are fully traceable."
