17th September 2007, 12:30pm
A brand new four day festival focusing on good, clean and fair food is to kick off from 24-27 April next year at London's Earls Court 1.
The Real Food Festival, based on the principles of Slow Food, is aimed at both trade and consumers and is designed to bring producers and consumers closer together to celebrate real food.
Hundreds of small producers from the UK and abroad will be offering visitors the opportunity to explore, taste and buy their products as well as educating them on various food choices.
A wine fair will be available at the event, offering over 100 small producers of quality wines, as well as a cookery school where visitors will have hands-on tuition from Barny Haughton, head chef at the Bordeaux Quay in Bristol.
A chefs' theatre will also feature some of the UK's most renowned chefs, along with some of the UK's top restaurants who will be serving a selection of signature dishes.
Zac Goldsmith, supporter of the event, said: "The festival will change the way we think about food and give producers and consumers an opportunity to meet and share their passion for authentic quality produce."
Lyndon Gee, chairman of the producer Selection Committee for Real Food and director of Slow Food UK, said: "The Real Food Festival promises to celebrate the diversity of modern artisan food, from producer to plate."
Producers will only be able to exhibit by invitation.
