Pure and simple HA ball raises £100,000

14th October 2008, 11:05am

Hospitality Action has deemed its Pure White Ball a success after raising over £100,000 for the charity.

Held at London's Grosvenor House Hotel on Friday 10th October, the annual ball attracted hundreds of guests from the industry. Following a champagne reception, guests indulged in a gourmet meal of Welsh country Lamb and a green tea brûlée with lemongrass sorbet and lotus crisp.

People within the industry were commended for their dedication and commitment to Hospitality Action including:

The President's award: Premier Inn
Sponsored by William Murray Communications, this award was given to Premier Inn for an unprecedented second year running. Having last year pledged to significantly support the charity financially, they have undoubtedly fulfilled this promise by raising a staggering £500,000.

The HA's Heroes award: Graham Kingaby of Nivo Ltd.
He has tirelessly raised funds for the charity whilst also committing his time and energy as an invaluable member of the London Regional Board.

The Ark Foundation award for Corporate Social Responsibility: Red Carnation Hotels
This award recognised a company which has shown a proactive approach to the dangers of alcohol and substance abuse in today's society. Red Carnation Hotels have not only worked with the Ark for Business on staff training and seminars but also agreed to share their experience with the rest of the industry.

Fundraising played a big part of the evening with an auction, silent auction and raffle, a 'Crack the Safe' game boasting a Mini Cooper Convertible as the prize, plus a taste of Vegas thanks to the casino.

Several prizes were on offer including a gourmet stay at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons and an Executive Box at the Emirates Stadium.

Penny Moore, chief executive of Hospitality Action said, "The Hospitality Ball is one of our most popular events and judging by tonight, it's easy to see why. We're delighted that even in these difficult times, so many people have supported this evening and helped make it such a success."

Raising funds for HA allows it to continue its role as a vital lifeline for any of the two million plus hospitality industry employees who are faced with hard times.
