Punch Taverns celebrates The World Cup in style

23rd June 2010, 12:25pm

Punch Taverns' pubs are really getting into the spirit of The World Cup. We take a look at how some of the establishments are celebrating.

Punch Pub Company:

• Harvester, West Swindon - England World Cup winner, Martin Peters, visited the pub this week to kick off the pub's month of World Cup football.

• The Nag's Head in Mickleover has created a traffic stopping frontage with a giant David Beckham model.

• The exterior of the Dog & Partridge, Blackpool has been transformed into an enormous St George's flag.

• The Arrow in Nottingham has 32 flags, representing every competing nation of the World Cup, hanging from the pub's ceiling.

• The Corner House, Tyne and Wear has a red and white frontage, 15ft England footballer, painted tables, flags and St George's crosses painted on the windows.

Punch Partnerships:

• The Old Plough, Truro have brought a giant pull down screen and installed three tier stadium seating so customers can watch the World Cup matches in style.

• Red Admiral in Runcorn has a giant, 16 x 5 metres flag on the roof of their pub which can be seen for 25 miles. The flag contains the message 'Never lack belief' next to pictures of England players Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard.

• Market Tavern, Alnwick is selling tickets for a 'Win Big' competition with proceeds going to Cancer Research.  Prizes include an overnight stay and evening meal at the 5 star Slaley Hall Hotel, an ultimate driving experience for guys and handmade jewellery for the ladies.

• The Beacon in Burton-upon-Trent has decorated the exterior with 32 flags representing every nation competing in the World Cup.

• Decorations at The Turf and Feather, Warrington have attracted the attention of regional newspapers radio and TV.
