Pub company The Orchid Group invests in internal communications programme

29th September 2010, 3:14pm

Sunday Times top 25 ranked pub and restaurant company The Orchid Group has launched a new internal communications initiative designed to improve relations among its staff and fight competitors.

The new programme coincides with the company's recent ranking as number 20 out of 25 in the Sunday Times' list of top UK Big Companies to work for.

The newspaper praised the company for its "clear communication, strong team spirit and incentive programme" and The Orchid Group is hoping the new initiatives will build on this success.

The company, which is described as the sixth largest managed pub and restaurant company in the UK, has 6,500 pub employees nationwide.

It hopes the investment will help maintain the "close-knit team and great family atmosphere" of the company in spite of the recession and aims to involve everyone in company matters, no matter what their role within the business.

Among the company's investments include an Orchid Impact magazine, an Orchid Lottery and The Halo Awards, an event dubbed by the company as its own version of the Oscars, which will give staff the chance to nominate each other in recognition of their hard work.

Orchid Group chief executive Rufus Hall said: "We recognise the need to invest in people at all levels and our new internal communication programme will do just that.

"Ultimately, everyone benefits from these schemes. Planting flowers, dangling from buildings, cleaning the pumps; there's almost nothing we won't do to keep our business running smoothly, customers smiling, communities blooming and our staff happy."
