Post Office business insurance launched for café owners

The Post Office has launched a specialist business insurance which has been tailored for café owners.

The policy, which can be accessed from any one of the 12,000 local Post Office branches, as well by phone and online, provides café owners with access to the wide ranging covers required in the course of their business. 

These include theft or damage to stock, contents and money, damage to fixed glass, cover for chilled and frozen stock, and theft or damage to stock in transit.

The Post Office also provides separate van insurance for café owners who do not trade as a limited company.

Duncan Caesar-Gordon, head of Post Office Business Insurance said: "Café owners, like Post Offices, are at the heart of many communities across the UK.  We are keen to extend the range of business services we offer café owners, and are pleased to be able to now offer a great value insurance service which is tailored to meet their individual business needs."

What's included as standard in the Café Owner's Business Insurance policy?

Liability
• Employers' liability insurance up to £10m
• Public liability insurance up to £2m
• Product liability insurance up to £2m

Property
• Accidental damage
• Machinery and computer equipment breakdown
• Stock and contents
• Theft, money, malicious attack and glass damage
• Seasonal stock – extra 25% cover
• Exhibitions – up to £2,500
• Stolen keys – up to £1,000

Business interruption
• Loss of Gross Profit
• Book debts - money that would be owed to a company in the course of its everyday business – up to £25,000
• Gross profit loss as a direct result of a property loss at one of your customers or suppliers
• Cover for if you're denied access to your property following damage
• Cover for loss of gross profit due to property being damaged or stolen whilst in transit
Goods in transit – up to £2,500
Legal expenses – up to £50,000
