On Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th December diners will see prices reduced by 15% - the equivalent of the total removal of VAT.
The move follows this week's announcement that the Government will be reducing VAT from 17.5 per cent to 15 per cent from 1st December.
Pizza Hut says it is the first restaurant chain to announce such an aggressive price cut, passing on the VAT reduction to its customers.
Alasdair Murdoch, CEO for Pizza Hut UK, said: "We believe that a 2.5% VAT reduction would be of limited benefit to our customers which is why we have decided to launch a 'VAT Free Weekend' on 6th December. We are fully committed to passing on the VAT savings and will continue to explore the best ways to make a real difference to our customers."
In recognition of the VAT cut, Pizza Hut will be passing on more substantial savings by introducing a series of promotions throughout 2009.
All menu items will be reduced, including pizzas, pastas and salads.
