Like its sister restaurant in Kenilworth, Warwickshire, the Almanack is a modern British gastropub serving quality food and drink, run by the award-winning Peach team.
Lee Cash, Co-founder, Peach, said: "This is a brilliant site in a cracking development right in the centre of the city where we'll be able to capitalise on a ready market for all-day dining and evening drinking."
"Leicester is a fantastic city and one where we felt the Almanack all-day dining concept would work well. What we wanted to do on top of that was create somewhere in the city where you can come after work for a drink, somewhere to eat lunch in a break from shopping or simply for a night out in town with friends. A place serving good food, naturally but also a place simply to have a pint or a glass of wine if that's what you want."
Though the look's contemporary, there's a retro edge to the venture with quirky details like framed 70's album covers along the walls and up the stairs to the 45-cover private dining room on mezzanine level, plus chic mood lighting and back-lit curved timber feature wall stretching across the width of the pub above the bar.
Head chef Corin Earland, with the support of Sous Chef Rob Hartwell, will be serving up dishes such as organic salmon fillet with balsalmic roasted beetroot and horseradish cream, slow-cooked free-range pork rib eye with smoked paprika butterbeans and greens and free-range coq au vin served with mash. Peach signature deli boards will also feature prominently, and there will be an extended choice of desserts including a freshly baked cheesecake of the week.
Cash continued: "We're excited to be here in Leicester and can't wait to share the Almanack experience and a warm Peach welcome with as many people as possible. The opening comes hot on the heels of the first birthday of our first Almanack, and we're hoping that we'll be as successful here in Leicester as we are in Kenilworth."
