Pasty chain set to open six new stores in London

5th August 2008, 3:11pm

West Cornwall Pasty Co, the UK's retailer of Cornish pasties, is set to open six new stores in and around the capital as part of a major expansion drive.

The new stores will be opening at Richmond Station, Ealing Broadway, Hammersmith Broadway, Fulham Broadway, Romford Station and Guildford Station over the next couple of weeks.

West Cornish Pasty has also confirmed that several other sites across London are in the pipeline for the rest of the remaining year. They aim to have over 100 stores across the UK within the next three years.

David Howarth, West Cornwall Pasty Co. commercial director, explained: "The market for out-of-home eating in the UK continues to grow and there is considerable consumer demand for specialist offerings such as WCPCo. Pasties."

The company, which opened its first store in 1998, has now grown to 60 stores across the UK in the last 10 years and sells over seven million pasties a year, and employs almost 600 members of staff.

The pasty varieties include Lamb and Mint, Pork and Apple and Chicken and Balti.
