Over £2,000 raised through sales at Great British Beer Festival

24th September 2010, 11:44am

London brewer, Fuller, Smith & Turner P.L.C., has presented a cheque for over £2,000 to The Royal British Legion for money raised at this year's Great British Beer Festival.

The amount was raised through sales of the brewer's Reserve No.2 oak-aged ale, which was made available in cask for visitors to the festival which took place at Earl's Court in early August.

Richard Fuller, director of Fuller, Smith & Turner P.L.C., said: "Brewer's Reserve is an incredibly rare beer, and this second edition was matured in old Cognac barrels for a year before being released.

"When we heard that The Royal British Legion was the official charity of the Great British Beer Festival we were very keen to play our part in raising money for such a worthwhile cause.

"We provided one firkin per day of the festival, and whenever it was made available for sale, a queue very quickly formed in front of the bar. Customers were thrilled that all proceeds were going to the Legion, a charity close to many people's hearts."

Michelle Campbell, corporate partnerships manager at The Royal British Legion, added: "With this summer marking the 70th anniversary of The Battle of Britain, our thoughts are never far from those members of our forces who need support during and after their service.

"Fuller's support of our fundraising at the Great British Beer Festival was a very welcome addition to our plans and I am delighted that the beer made such an impact.

"To raise over £2,000 from just six barrels of beer is fantastic and I'm just disappointed I didn't get to try any at the festival before it all sold out."
