Some 90 of the Group's Free House Dining pubs will be taking part collecting school supplies and arts & crafts materials. Half of the goods will stay in the UK going to children's charity, Kids Out. Orchid will take the rest direct to four Save the Children schools and orphanages in the poorest parts of Romania.
Marie Wheatley said: "This appeal is all about helping children – both at home and away. We have been amazed in the past at the generosity of our customers and staff and I'm sure they will pull together to make the project a success. It was good to have Anne Main visit us to support the campaign - I'm sure her involvement will help us collect lots of goodies."
Hugh McKelvie, manager of the Abbot's Inch, one of Orchid's participating pubs added: "We hope our 'Home and Away' project will make a real difference to children's lives both here in the UK and also in some of the poorest parts of Romania."
