Jeff Jordan, president and chief executive officer of OpenTable, said they will now be able to offer restaurants the best service possible: "This acquisition of toptable.com is designed to accelerate the growth of our business in the United Kingdom in a meaningful way.
"By combining toptable.com's robust consumer destination site for diners with our best-in-class software for restaurants, we will be able to provide a superior service to restaurants and diners in the United Kingdom."
Last year toptable.com reported revenues of £6.3 million and net income of £750,000.
David Norris of Livebookings believes this is a positive move for the restaurant industry: "It's great to see OpenTable throw its weight behind TopTable as it demonstrates what a growing and attractive market for online table reservations there is in the UK. In fact, here at Livebookings, we've taken 3.3m bookings for our restaurant customers during the last year – over 65% up on the same period last year."
