Novikov restaurant unveils images of its interior

8th September 2011, 11:25am

Due to open in November in the heart of Mayfair in London, Novikov Restaurant & Bar has unveiled the first images of its interior.

Set across three floors, the venue is being created by Geometry Design Moscow and overseen by Keir Townsend Project Managers.

The concept is subdivided into three distinctive spaces - the Asian Restaurant, the Italian Restaurant and the Novikov Bar - all with very different interior styling.

As guests enter through revolving doors, they will find granite walls, a lacquered ebony bar-counter decorated with a jade stone belonging to Arkady Novikov himself and the adjacent Asian Restaurant, a 130 seat contemporary-style eatery.

All natural materials are used and there are defining features such as a wall of cracked stone and bamboo chandeliers. Fronted by a display of seafood, aromatic duck and vegetables, the Asian Restaurant has an open kitchen that evokes the atmosphere of an Asian food market.

As guests enter the Italian Restaurant they are transported into a village trattoria. The roof has been designed to give the impression of light flooding in, illuminating the room no matter what the time of year. "Complex state-of-the-art lighting systems will change the atmosphere from sunrise to sunset, from season to season," explains Alastair Keir of Keir Townsend.

Centre stage is a huge, wood burning oven which contrasts with the tactile elements of the rest of the interior: suede wall panelling, handmade tiles, mirrors in solid oak frames and dramatic chandeliers with candles.

Meanwhile The Novikov Bar boasts an eccentric collection of furnishings and objects from different countries and periods. Guests will find antiques placed next to contemporary furniture, Asian accessories and brightly coloured velvets next to antique leathers.

Irina Glik of Geometry Design, the Moscow-based company which has previously worked on Novikov restaurants including Mr Lee and Cherdak, said: "I have been working with Arkady Novikov for some time now and his attention to every last detail as far as kitchen, interior design or atmosphere is second to none."

Alastair Keir added: "Geometry Design's well thought through aesthetics of every element is pleasing to the eye. Novikov Restaurant & Bar will be a great addition to Mayfair's multi-cultural restaurant scene."
