Nominations open for The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year Awards

9th February 2012, 3:35pm

The Good Food Guide is inviting nominations for its Readers’ Restaurant of the Year awards.

The awards champion local eateries and recognise great food and good service at restaurants, pubs and cafés from around the UK.

Ten regional winners will be announced from the public nominations before The Good Food Guide judges whittle them down to crown their overall Readers' Restaurant of the Year 2013.

Elizabeth Carter, consultant editor, The Good Food Guide, said: "The Good Food Guide Readers' Restaurant of the Year awards are a fantastic way to recognise great cooking and service at neighbourhood eateries around the UK. The awards give members of the public a chance to shout about the places where they love to eat, and provide winning restaurants with the recognition they deserve - and hopefully give a boost to business as well."

Restaurants often report extremely positive business uplifts on the back of receiving an award from The Good Food Guide, with many experiencing an increase in bookings, takings and customer feedback as a result of associated kudos and exposure.

Last year's awards garnered over 27,500 nominations, with Orwells in Shiplake, Oxfordshire winning the coveted crown of The Good Food Guide Readers' Restaurant of the Year 2012.

Ryan Simpson, co-owner of Orwells, commented: "Since winning the award business has really picked up and we seem to have increased our covers by at least 40%. It has created awareness, and interest in Orwells has been extremely positive; we have had great feedback from our guests."

To take part in the awards restaurants can encourage their diners to nominate them online, at www.thegoodfoodguide.co.uk/awards, or by making official postcards available in their restaurants during the nomination period - 13th February until 23rd April 2012.
