The ovenable range of fries, skin-on wedges and croquettes with 50 per cent less fat, 70 per cent less saturated fat (when fried in oil with less than 30 per cent saturated fat) and 30 per cent calories, is now also made with 100 per cent sunflower oil.
Nic Townsend, marketing manager for Farm Frites, said: "We know customers out of home want to eat more healthily without compromising on taste and our Nature's Goodness products prepared with sunflower oil are the answer. Sunflower oil is one of the healthiest oils there is; low in the saturated fats that can be bad for the heart while high in polyunsaturated fats, which keep hearts healthy."
The improvement also means there is no palm oil involved in the preparation of Nature's Goodness, so there is no ethical compromise for customers to make with no price hike to boot. "Nature's Goodness is perfect in every way," said Nic. "A range of healthier, more ethical potato products, they are ideal for caterers in education, healthcare and leisure through to premium offer pubs and restaurants.
"The Nature's Goodness Chip is the only chip we are aware of that is under five per cent fat after frying. However, Nature's Goodness is made with premium, extra long potatoes, combined with potato starch for a chip that resists oil uptake, whilst still keeping fabulous flavour, crispiness and length and less than 5% fat even after frying. Why not try them for yourself to see if you can tell – we promise you won't know they're low fat?!"
To help maintain the nutritional properties of the new improved Goodness, which has the green light for three out of four categories in the FSA traffic light system, Farm Frites advises customers to also use sunflower oil when frying the product.
