Food and drink broadcaster Nigel Barden will present the awards

NORTHERN HOSPITALITY AWARDS DRAW RECORD ENTRIES

This year's Northern Hospitality Awards attracted a record number of entries from chefs, restaurants, bars and hotels across the North West, Yorkshire and the North East.

The finalists have been revealed and in the Best Restaurant category they are Green's Restaurant & Bistro, Whitby; The Grassington House Hotel, North Yorkshire; The Pipe & Glass Inn, Beverley, East Yorkshire; Van Zeller, Harrogate; and The Westwood Restaurant, in Beverley.

The Best Hotel group includes Abode, Manchester; The Feversham Arms, Helmsley, North Yorkshire; Hope Street Hotel, Liverpool; The Lowry, Manchester and Rudding Park, Harrogate.

Best Bar finalists are the Corridor, Manchester; Epernay Champagne & Cocktail Bar, Manchester; Hula, Manchester; MoJo, Leeds and Walrus Canteen & Bar, Manchester.

Those lining up for the Best Pub are The Feathers Inn, Stocksfield, Northumbria; The Fisherman's Retreat, Ramsbottom, Lancashire; The Strickland Arms, Penrith, Cumbria; The Water Witch, Lancaster and Ye Old Sun Inn, Tadcaster, North Yorkshire.

Best Newcomer hopefuls are The Bear's Paw, Sandbach, Cheshire; Freemasons Country Inn, Wiswell, Lancashire; The Noble House, Liverpool; The Pheasant Hotel, Harome, North Yorkshire; and Van Zeller, Harrogate.

Those hoping to take the Best Chef title are Steve Smith, The Burlington restaurant at The Devonshire Arms, Bolton Abbey, North Yorkshire; Rupert Rowley, Fischers at Baslow Hall, Bakewell, Derbyshire; Warwick Dodds, The Hastings Eating & Drinking House, Lyhtham, Lancashire; James Mackenzie, The Pipe & Glass Inn, Beverley, East Yorkshire and Tom Van Zeller, Van Zeller, Harrogate.

The awards to be presented by renowned food and drink journalist, Nigel Barden, will take place on Monday April 12th at The Hilton Deansgate, Manchester, where all the finalists will be in with a chance of bringing home the coveted title.

Thom Hetherington, managing director of Moorfield Media, organisers of the awards, said: "The calibre of entries this year has been exceptionally high, with a number of Michelin starred establishments taking part, which is great to see."
