NORFOLK PUB BOSS PRAISES HIS PAGER SYSTEM IN PRESTIGIOUS AWARD WIN

17th June 2010, 12:06pm

The manager of The Wiveton Pub in Norfolk is celebrating after his pub was named East of England regional winner of The Good Food Guide – and is praising his WaiterCall paging system for making the difference in the business that prompted the win.

Pub boss Lee Merritt is singing the praises of the device which he says has made a 'massive difference' to staff and customer service: 'We probably wouldn't have won this award without WaiterCall. The pagers enable us to deliver a quicker more efficient service to our customers, getting food out as soon as it's ready, so that it arrives at the table while it is still hot and fresh."

The device, which is available from specialist communications and software products supplier to the hospitality industry Call-Systems Technology (CST), works by making it easier for chefs and waiting staff to communicate in a discreet manner that does not disrupt customer service.

Seven waiters at The Wiveton Pub are wearing one of the devices on their person and after putting orders through for their customers they wait for chefs in the kitchen to alert them that their order is ready via the control panel in the kitchen. The system means that no matter how far away the waiters are from the kitchen, they can keep on top of their orders without making unnecessary trips to the kitchen – concentrating their attention instead on the customer. There is also a 'call in' option available for use when the waiter who has received the alert is busy – this button prompts alternative members of staff to collect the dish instead.

"Wiveton Bell can serve up to 120 covers a service at its busiest times and the devices have enabled staff to get food out quicker- which in turn paves the way for increased turnover," enthuses Merritt.
