NAPKET OPENS AT VIGO STREET, MAYFAIR

16th May 2008, 10:43am

On Monday 12 May 2008, Napket, a dramatic and daring reinvention of the urban café, opened its third site at 5 Vigo Street, Mayfair, close to Abercrombie & Fitch.

With its array of beautifully presented dishes made from quality natural ingredients, Napket offers casual all-day dining in an ultra-modern setting. All the food at Napket can be purchased to eat-in or take-away.

Designed by Peter Van Hooreweghe, the decor of Napket features an eclectic collision of influences from modern to baroque. While every Napket has its own signature design features, the décor is tailored to the individual sites and surrounding area.

The décor at Napket at Vigo Street is stunning and features the trade-mark black walls and reclaimed church floor. Focal points of the décor include vintage chandeliers, which were sourced in Italy, and black velvet and gold framed baroque couches. The exposed brick walls at ceiling height give an industrial edge to the décor.

As with fashion boutiques, customers can choose from an expensive black label gourmet selection of freshly prepared, pre-packaged salads, sandwiches and desserts, or a white label "diffusion" line of more affordable and innovative foods. A large salad bar runs along one side of Napket, where guests can take their pick from a wide selection of salads. Soups, a wide variety of cakes, coffee, teas and soft drinks, are also available to eat-in or take-away.

Every minute detail of Napket has been carefully considered. The coffee is Illy, the tea is Mariage Freres, and there is a wide selection of dairy smoothies and frapkets, plus freshly squeezed fruit juices which can be enjoyed with or without herbal boosters. Unique to Napket is the cannabis iced tea, which is natural product from Switzerland. For breakfast, granola with yoghurt, pastries and breads are served, with a wider variety of dishes being introduced throughout the day.

Music is an extremely important part of the concept and the latest sounds from the catwalk are played through a state-of-the-art Bang & Olufsen sound system. For true music lovers, iPod Nanos loaded with the most popular albums from the US charts are available in Napket,

Napket launched its inaugural designer café-deli on the Kings Road in summer 2007. Following its huge success, Napket opened at 6 Brook Street, Mayfair in December 2007.
