Martin brothers expand gastropub empire

19th November 2007, 11:52am

Brothers Tom and Ed Martin have expanded their East London gastropub empire with the opening of The Prince Arthur in London Fields.

The Martins' stable already includes the Gun in Docklands, E14, the White Swan Pub and Dining Room on Fetter Lane, EC4, and the Well in Clerkenwell, EC1.

The 19th Century public house, whose name commemorates the birth of Queen Victoria's third son, features a series of portraits of the prince in ceremonial uniform, coupled with photographs of the local area over the years.

Head chef Tim Francis, formerly at 30 Saint Mary's Axe at the Gherkin, is serving up modern British food.

Dishes include Lancashire Hot Pot, Braised Red Cabbage (£11.50), Roast Pork Belly, Crackling, Caramelised Parsnip, Brussels Tops, Apple Sauce (£11.95), and Cauliflower and Wild Garlic Tatin, Woodland Mushrooms, Chantenay Carrots (£9.50).

The gastropub accommodates 50 covers, with room for a further 24 outside.

General manager is Jess Smith.
