Currently they recycle almost all paper, cardboard, plastic and metal products and are now tackling the 40% of waste remaining.
The latest items to "go green" are the drinking straws which are now made from corn starch rather than plastic and are totally bio-degradable.
Alongside these, customers can find a variety of eco-friendly products in use at all of the KRO restaurants. All menus, lids for coffee and paper towels are made with recycled products and sourced from sustainable supplies.
Kro's work is being assisted by Envirolink, a not-for-profit organisation which supports the development and growth of the energy and environmental technologies and services sector in the north west of England. They are currently planning various projects to further reduce their carbon footprint and eliminate waste. These include the implementation of waste oil boilers, solar panels and composters.
