MARSTON'S TRADE SHOWS DEEMED A SUCCESS
12th November 2007, 12:38pm
Marston's Pub Company licensees took advantage of a series of trade shows aimed at helping them improve their businesses by taking advantage of the extensive range of products and services available to support them.
Visitors had the chance to talk to over 25 suppliers covering everything from food and clothing to entertainment and drink. It also gave them the opportunity to sample a whole range of new food and drink products.
Donna Tromans from the Labour in Vain at Stourbridge said: "It's great to come to an event dedicated to serving licensees. We picked up some good ideas and took advantage of the offer for Bulmer's Pear Cider, which I think will go down really well with our regulars.
"One of my aims is for our pub to be locally recognised for its wine offer. The event allowed me to talk to suppliers and sample a selection of wines to compliment our menu."
Keith Fullwood, of the Royal Oak in Wolverhampton, was equally enthusiastic: "It was good to get some face to face advice on legal issues from Flint Bishop Solicitors. There are so many rules and regulations these days that it can be a real minefield to keep up to date."
The trade shows also attracted visitors who were interested in running their own pub. Clare Bills from Stoke On Trent is hoping to fulfil a lifetime ambition to become a licensee: "My husband and I already have our personal licenses. The event has been a great chance to gather some more information about Marston's and gain a much better understanding of what life is really like behind the bar."
Karl Czinege Commercial Manager for Marston's Pub Company said: "Feedback from licensees and suppliers has been extremely positive, with a significant number of our retailers cashing in on the food and coffee deals available, and we are already making plans to hold similar events again next year with even more suppliers and new ideas for licensees."
